Apple iPhone creator Foxconn affirmed to continue Shenzhen plant production

Apple iPhone producer Foxconn (2317.TW) has gotten Chinese government approval to continue production at a key plant in the southern city of Shenzhen, a source with direct knowledge on the situation revealed to Reuters late on Monday.

The plant’s reopening after the Lunar New Year holiday had been deferred because of the spread of the coronavirus in China.

Around 20,000 individuals, or roughly 10% of Foxconn’s workforce in Shenzhen, had come back to the plant as of Monday, the source stated, including that the organization let some know of its representatives there late on Monday to come back to work the next day.

Foxconn, officially Hon Hai Precision Industry Co Ltd, makes cell phones for global merchants including Apple (AAPL.O).
